Founded in 1996, JVET began with a commitment to the educational development of rural children and the welfare of persons with disabilities.

The Trust's work has expanded to counselling and support for women and girls facing violence and harassment, anti-trafficking protection and rehabilitation, public awareness, environmental action and community development.
